INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE

Company Background:

1315 Capital provides expansion and growth capital to commercial-stage healthcare services, medical technologies, medtech / pharma outsourcing, and health & wellness companies. We believe that these investment areas are attractive largely due to numerous niche market subsegments and business models, in which high-quality management teams can grow platform companies into large and important businesses in a rapid and capital-efficient manner. We currently manage ~$1 billion and will be investing out of our third family of funds which totals $500 million. We target $10-$40 million investments, in both minority growth and majority buyout transactions. Our capital is utilized by portfolio companies to scale to $50 to $150 million of revenue, a level we believe is highly attractive for acquisition or to access the public markets.

The firm is made up of highly driven, down-to-earth individuals who have decades of experience successfully investing in commercial-stage healthcare companies. Position:

The firm’s flat structure allows for Associates to obtain a unique investing experience by serving as a key member of the deal team, involved in all aspects of the investment process, including but not limited to, leading diligence, interacting directly with the investment committee, closing investments, and monitoring of portfolio companies, the latter of which includes the opportunity to directly interact with and observe on the boards of such companies. Additionally, the firm’s investment strategy allows for Associates to gain a wide array of experiences across various healthcare subsectors and transaction types. The role is based in Philadelphia, PA with a 2024 start date.

Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Sourcing and review of fund investment opportunities and tracking of internal deal flow
  • Participation in the due diligence and investment approval process, on-site travel, data analysis, financial modeling, and reference / research calls
  • Ongoing portfolio management responsibilities, including conducting business development and directly interacting with and supporting the board and senior management of portfolio companies
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the healthcare growth equity investment environment and industry landscape
  • Development and maintenance of professional network to support above responsibilities

Desired Skills and Experience:

The target candidate has 2 – 4 years in healthcare experience from a top investment bank, top-tier management consulting firm or high performing investment firm. Successful candidates will have the following qualities:

  • Corporate finance, accounting and valuation knowledge and the ability to understand the key drivers of portfolio company performance and fund-level returns
  • Strong writing skills and experience authoring investment proposals or similar recommendations
  • Superior financial modeling capability with high attention to detail
  • Self-starter with a sense of ownership of work product and the ability to handle several projects simultaneously and prioritize work based on deadlines
  • Ability to communicate across multiple levels of seniority, both internally and externally, with a high level of general partner interaction
  • Ability to draw specific conclusions about individual fund investment opportunities using both quantitative and qualitative data points
